I knew the campground had few sockets to charge my phone, and I definitely didn't want to just leave it plugged in and walk away in a campground. It was opening week of the new baseball season, and being a Northern California sports fan, I was going to be using my phone to listen to the games. I bought the Anker Astro3 to help me shore up my battery needs, and it bailed me out! Between charging my phone overnight on the Anker, and later in the week recharging my phone and the Anker from my father-in-law's generator (when everyone else wasn't using it), I made it through the week and heard all of the games I was anxious to hear. Since then (I've owned it and used it for over a month) it has proven invaluable in recharging my phone when I'm out on trips and find myself low on juice and can't be near a wall/car charger long enough. Q1. What is the difference between Port S and Port I?: Both ports are able to charge 5V / 2A-input devices. As an added feature, Port S is especially designed to accommodate the circuit design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, while Port I is especially designed to accommodate the circuit design of Apple-series products. Port S will still support Apple-series products, but at lower charging speeds. Port I will not support the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Q2. Can I use the two ports (Port S and Port I) at the same time?: Yes, you can. Since the combined output of Port S and Port I is limited to 2A, concurrent use of the two ports will make charging speeds twice as slow. If using 3 output ports to charge, note that the combined output current to the three devices will not exceed 2.3A.
Q3. How do I choose between the 9V, and 12V voltage options?: Please select the voltage option that corresponds with your device’s voltage and voltage range. You may need to consult the device’s labels and/or instruction manual for this information. When in doubt, always choose a lower voltage option, never a higher one. For example: a. If the voltage and voltage range are both between 9V and 12V, but you are unsure of the exact number, the 9V option is recommended. b. If the voltage and voltage range are both lower than 9V, and the device’s battery is not removable, do not use the Astro3 to charge your device. c. If the voltage and voltage range of your device is higher than 12V, you can try to charge your device with the Astro3 using the 12V option, as this will not cause damage.
