Anker 40W 5-Port Family-Sized Desktop USB Charger with PowerIQ™ Technology

Product Description

Off-the-charts power. PowerIQ technology. 5 ports. Charging re-created for our multi-device world.

Compatibility maximized.

Not all charging ports are created equal. Standard ports only charge Apple OR Android devices at full speed. But with PowerIQ™ technology, each port intelligently identifies your device and seeks to maximize its charging speed.

Off-the-charts power.

Say goodbye to using multiple adapters & outlets. Say hello to all-in-one charging convenience. With an industry-high 40W power output among 5 ports, charge any combination of phones, tablets or other USB-charged devices at full speed (up to 8A). Even charge a trove of 5 power-hungry tablets all at once.

Compact and cable-chaos free.

About the size of a deck of playing cards (3.6 x 2.3 x 1.0in), place on your workstation, nightstand, or even the entryway desk - creating the perfect charging hub for your gear or the family's.Or, take it traveling; the unibody construction withstands bumping when stowed in your bag.

Powerful yet safe.

Using top-grade microchips and built-in fail-safes, we can ensure you receive full power and also full safety. We incorporated a unique port-level circuit protection system that shuts it down in the event of overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating or short circuits.

For optimal use.

• Please use your device’s original cable or a third-party certified one (such as MFi).
• Compatible with all Apple and Android smartphones, tablets (including the Nexus 7) and other USB-charged devices. The iPod nano, iPod Classic, HP TouchPad, LG G2, Asus tablets and some GPS and Bluetooth devices are not supported.

Customer FAQ

Q1.  Why are my Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 and Note 3 devices charging slightly slower from this charger than the original charger that came with my device?
The heightened sensitivity of these devices to voltage output may in some cases slow their charging speed.
Q2.  Which charging port should I use to charge my device?
Thanks to PowerIQ technology, each charging port can charge any device at full speed – there's no need to find a specific port.
Q3.  What if the Anker 5-port Wall Charger is not charging my device(s)?
A. Check to ensure that your device is USB-powered with an input current between 0 and 8A and a voltage input of 5V.
B. Check to ensure that the power cord is connected to an active wall outlet and also firmly connected to the Anker 5-port Wall Charger.
Q4.  How do I check my device’s input current and voltage?
Please refer to your device’s user manual, original OEM charging adapter, or contact the manufacturer to determine this information.
Q5.  What is the maximum ouput of one usb port?
5V 2.4A.
Q6.  My device charges at 1 Amp, will this charger’s 8 Amp output harm it?
No, the charger will only supply the maximum charge current allowed by your device up to 2.4 Amps from each port.
Q7.  What if the Anker 5-port Wall Charger charges my device(s) slowly?
A. Check to ensure that the cable you are using to charge is the original cable that came with your device.
B. Check to ensure that the total input current required by your devices is not higher than 8A if you charge several devices at the same time.
C. Please email us at support@ianker.com during your 18-month warranty if your device appears to be defective or you need further help.
Q8.  What kind of USB charging cables should I use with this charger?
To ensure complete safety and best performance, we strongly recommend
using your device's original cable or a third-party certified cable
(such as MFI).
Q9.  When the charger is plugged into an outlet but has no devices plugged in, will it consume power? What is the standby power consumption?
The charger will consume almost no power in this state. Its standby power consumption is rated at ≤0.5W.

5.3 volts
Many Samsung devices require a charging voltage of 5.3 volts.  With less voltage, they throttle back to trickle charge, particularly since the KitKat update.  Your charge devices including those with PowerIQ  carry a voltage rating of only 5.0 volts, therefore I suspect they would only trickle charge.  Do you have a charger for Samsung that will provide the required 5.3 volts?

Current output for unsupported devices
I would like to use this charger for bicycle battery lights. Does the charger output only 500 mA for unrecognised devices, since these are mostly not listed?

Yes, it will. I use this power adapter to charge my two Kindles (Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Touch). It is compatible with the Kindle. Just use the appropriate charging cable.

Unfortunately Power IQ is not compatible with Asus tablets due to unusual charging technology installed by Asus themselves.

One of the ports is dead
I ordered this 4/7/2014 and has worked pretty well untill I discoverd I had a dead phone when it was plugged in to the fourth USB port. It doesn't change anything no matter how small the load. What do I need to do to get a replacement. I plan to take this on a trip to Europe so reliability is top of the list.Spencer Stickell704-622-4688

Guarantee information
I have enjoyed using your 40 W 5 USB port charger, but On a recent trip I lost the capability to charge 2 iPhone and 2 iPads at the same time.  Two of the ports would not work.  I realize you have corrected this problem with a change that resets the port if it is overloaded.  The problem I have is that it reacted as if it was overloaded with just 4 ports containing 2 iPhones and 2 iPads.  Can I exchange the two chargers I have for your new device?

Excellent item. ? reliability
I got this from Amazon back in May 2014.  It works 100% as advertised.  And since it is dual voltage (110/220v) I was able to keep all of my gadgets charged up for use while on vacation in the UK.  Unfortunately it now has a dead port.  Ipad, 2 Iphones, GPS, Power bank battery, and a Jawbone are the routine load.  I may look into getting another.  Something simular for the car would be nice.
