Charger- 40W 5-port desktop charger

Product Description

With such massive capacity, in such a compact package, the Anker Astro E5 is perfect for flights, road trips, or just any time you’re away from an outlet.

Enough power to go around.

Marooned? In transit? Forget your OEM adapter? With the Anker® Astro E5, prolong your battery life multiple times, wherever you are. Holding enough power to charge a smartphone 4-7 times (depending on your phone’s battery size), keep your gadgets going for days and still have juice left to share.

World's most compact 15000mAh Battery.

Innovations in battery cell technology allow us to pack more power into less space – making this the most compact ever 15000mAh external battery. In addition to portability, the Anker Astro E5 sports two concurrent, high-speed ports. So whether you're charging an Apple or Android device, you won’t need to wait around.

Designed around the details.

Just because the E5 packs a punch, doesn't mean it can't look nice. We went with a smooth, ebony/ivory finish to keep you traveling in style. Simple, unobtrusive features, such as one-touch status LEDs and a built-in flashlight, give you everything you need out of a battery without sacrificing aesthetics.

For optimal use

- To ensure complete safety and best performance, we strongly recommend using your device’s original cable, a third-party certified cable (such as MFI) or our included cable.
- For simultaneous, max-speed charging of your Astro and other devices, check out Anker's new 25W 5-port wall charger or dual-port 24W car charger.
- Compatible with all Apple and Android smartphones, tablets and other 5V input USB-charged devices. The iPod nano and some GPS and Bluetooth devices are not supported.

  • Works great
  • Just used this for the first time on vacation, traveling, etc. Work exactly as specified. Kept my iPad, iPhone, and both of my kids phones charged when needed. Tried it pre vacation on my ipad, and charged it almost to 100% from a 0% start.

  • Love it!
  • Although, I haven't taking it on the road. I have tested by charging my iPad Air and iPhone 5 with it. It will definitely come in handy during a blackout. It does what it said it will do. I am satisfied!

  • Great charger
  • Love it!! Charges my phone quickly and it last for about 7 full charges need to buy the power line

  • Great gift for a commuter
  • I bought this for a birthday present and she seemed to love it. It works great for her iPhone and iPad. It is very compact but not as light as I had hoped, but I like the fact that it is a USB output. So you can charge any type of device you need, and are able to change devices and it will still work with the charger.

  • good portable battery
  • A very good alternative way to charge your electronics with usb charger. I would recommend it. Only problem is that it only charge 3 times to full capacity for samsung note 3 when the battery drained to 10 percent.

Customer FAQ

Q1.  Can I use USB cables othan than those provided with my Anker external battery?
To ensure complete safety and best performance, we strongly recommend using your device’s original cable, a third-party certified cable (such as MFI) or our included cable.
Q2.  Does it work with the new iPhone 5s, 5c?
Yes. But the Apple connector is not included. Please use your device's original cable.
Q3.  Anker external batteries' efficiency.
ALL external batteries lose power due to voltage conversion and circuit resistance.

Approximately 20% of Astro 2nd Generation external battery’s total capacity is consumed, including power lost from circuit heat and voltage conversion within the external battery (approximately 6%) and the charging cable and your device (approximately 14%). This efficiency rate is 15% higher than the industry average of 35%.

Older Astro batteries have lose approximately 30%.

According to industrial standards, all external batteries are labeled based on their raw cells capacity not efficiency. Like others, we are following this standard.
Q4.  How long will the battery lasts while not in use?
Generally, most of our external batteries' static power consumption is lower than 100uA, which will take between 3.5 and 20 years to drain the battery completely.

However, the chemicals within the li-ion battery will gradually become less active over prolonged periods without use. Most will die in 2 years of inactivity.

To extend your battery's life:
1. Charge and recharge it at least once every 3-4 months.
2. Do not over-charge or over-discharge it. It is best to keep it charged between 5%-95%.
Q5.  Can Anker external batteries be used for international travel?
Yes. Be sure the USB adapter you bring with is compatible with the voltage of the country you will be traveling to. An adapter's voltage input is usually printed on the adapter.
Q6.  Can external batteries be taken on board airplanes?
Yes, all Anker external batteries can legally and safely be taken on board airplanes. Here are the relevant requirements:

Quoted from Federal transportation security rules (Effective January 1, 2008):
Lithium ion batteries (a.k.a.: rechargeable lithium, lithium polymer, LIPO, secondary lithium).
-Passengers may carry consumer-sized lithium ion batteries [no more than 8 grams of equivalent lithium content or 100 watt hours (wh) per battery]. This size covers AA, AAA, 9-volt, cell phone, PDA, camera, camcorder, Gameboy, and standard laptop computer batteries.
-Passengers can also bring two (2) larger lithium ion batteries (more than 8 grams, up to 25 grams of equivalent lithium content per battery) in their carry-on. This size covers larger extended-life laptop batteries. Most consumer lithium ion batteries are below this size.

Anker's largest external battery is currently the Anker Pro 20000mAh (74 wh) which is lower than the above 100 wh limit.
Q7.  What can I do if I lose the provided accessories?
Please check to see if you have extras or contact us via email at support@ianker.com for help.
Q8.  Anker external batteries' compatibility
Anker external batteries are compatible with Android and Apple smartphones and tablets except Asus devices ( Apple connectors are not included, please use your devices original cable).
Q9.  Can it be charged and charge other devices at the same time?
Yes, this battery can simultaneously charge and discharge. However, constant pass-through charging may affect the battery’s lifespan.
Q10.  Do I need to press the power button when charging other devices?
Yes.
Q11.  Do I need a certain type of charger to recharge this Anker external battery?
No, most USB AC chargers or a laptop or PC's USB port can recharge this battery. A minority of USB AC adapters are not compatible. If you find your charger is not working, please try a different charging option.
Q12.  How long does it take to fully charge this Anker external battery?
9-10 hours with a 1.5A output charger. Using a charger with a lower current output will prolong the charge time.
Q13.  How to turn the flashlight on and off?
Please press the power button twice to turn the flashlight on or off.
Q14.  Can I charge two devices at the same time?
Yes. But please note that when using 2 output ports simultaneously, the total output current will not exceed 3A.
Q15.  Can it charge Samsung or Asus tablets?
No.
Q16.  What if the Astro E5 fails to recharge?
a. Check that the adapter is connected securely, or replace it if the current one is not functioning normally.
b. Check that the USB cable is connected securely, or replace it if the current one is not functioning normally.
c. Please email us at support@ianker.com duiring your 18-month warranty period if the provided acessories or the external battery have problems.

Can you try turning the flashlight off?

I wonder if this is the same reason another user said that their laptop was doing a WLAN [Wake on LAN] operation when he used the battery and always turning on. He had to shut it off in the BIOS.

With the specialized signals required by some Samsung products you're better off going with the 2nd Gen Astro3. The energy efficiency is higher so you actually get about the same amount of usable power as the Astro E4.

The device wants a 1.5A input and so you are underpowering it, so it won't charge as fast, if even at all

For your iPhone, you can use either one. If you have a tablet and an iPhone at the same time, plug the tablet into the 2a port.

You can use either the 1A or 2A port to charge your iPhone 5. And yes, you can charge both your devices at once. Great questions!

Yes, you can charge both devices at the same time. Just make sure you charge the iPad Mini on the 2A port and the iPhone 5 on the 1A port. But you can charge the iPhone 5 faster on the 2A port.

Continuous discharge to other devices?
Does this device send continuous discharge current as it transitions from being charged to not being charged, and vice versa? I ask this because I plan to power a raspberry pi using this battery pack. I'm aiming for month long uptime. The grand scheme is to use this device with an Anker 14W solar panel to see how long of an uptime I can get. This would also be a test of the durability of this battery with daily pass-through charging.

I see to electrical reason for it not too, it would be no different than a smartphone or anyother battery being charged, (like a car even).
It makes sense circuit wise that nothing would change!
I would say that your solar setup would work!

Fast & Reliable AND doing the work!
So i got the E5 right before a show that I am attending. Unlike my high-tech shows this one was out in the wild with no power (besides my car) for 2 days. I was there assisting a friend and my role is to be in charge of all the credit card transactions using my iPhone and iPad (with Square). Since my iPhone 4s is very old it runs out of battery around 2pm everyday but at the show, since it was very active (lucky us) is running out of battery around noon. Lucky me, I've ordered the E5 from Amazon and using the prime and expedite shipment I got it at about 12 hours before I left for the show. It SAVED my life there! we charged my iPhone, iPad (mini) and my friend Galaxy S3 for 3 times. Again, without it we could have lost lots of potential money! Pros: - It runs! - Dual-port make it easy for my iPad and my iPhone at the same time! - "White" color design which I LOVE - Comes with the iPhone 3,4 connector so no extra connectors required Cons: - A bit heavy (but hey, for 2 days charge, I am not sure it is a cons) - Not coming with the latest and greatest connector for my iPad Mini (or iPhone 5,5s) but I sued the original cable I got from apple. Get one, you'll love it

when you look at a whopping 15k charge, it does get a bit larger and heavier. But depending on your usage, definetely worth it
