Yes, you can use other cables. However, to ensure compatibility and best performance, we strongly recommend using your device’s original cable, a third-party certified cable (such as MFI) or the included cable.
Q2.  What kind of wall charger should I use to charge the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery?
The battery can be recharged from any PC or laptop USB port or any USB AC adapter. A USB AC adapter with 1.5A or more output current will maximize charging speed. Lower currents will prolong charge time.
Q3.  What devices are compatible with the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery?
The battery is compatible with most Android, Apple and other USB devices.
Q4.  Does the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery work with the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus?
Yes, but the Apple cable is not included. Please use your device's original cable.
Q5.  Will the supplied Micro USB v2.0 cable compatible with the Micro USB v3.0 devices, such as Samsung Galaxy S5/Note2/Note3?
Yes, take a close look at the port and you will see the port is divided, insert the none Micro-USB 3.0 plug to the appropriate side and it will work fine.
Q6.  What's the output efficiency of the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery?
The efficiency of this battery is around 70%-80%. The internal circuit board is 92% efficient, accounting for power lost through circuit heat and voltage conversion, which is up to 5% above the industry average. Energy is also lost within the charging cable and the device being charged (approximately 15-20%). Additionally, the efficiency can be affected by the cable length and the age of the device being charged.
Q7.  Can the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery charge other devices while it is being charged?
Yes.
Q8.  Anker external batteries' compatibility
Anker external batteries are compatible with Android and Apple smartphones and tablets except Asus devices (Apple connectors are not included, please use your devices original cable).
Q9.  Do I need to press the power button when charging other devices?
Yes.
Q10.  Can it be charged and charge other devices at the same time?
Yes, this battery can simultaneously charge and discharge. However, constant pass-through charging may affect the battery’s lifespan.
Q11.  Can the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery charge two devices simultaneously?

Yes.
Q13.  How do I turn on/off the flashlight?
Please press the power button twice to turn on/off the flashlight.
Q14.  Do I need a certain type of charger to recharge this Anker external battery?
No, most USB AC chargers or a laptop or PC's USB port can recharge this battery. A minority of USB AC adapters are not compatible. If you find your charger is not working, please try a different charging option.
Q15.  What do the LEDs indicate when the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery is charging itself or other devices?
When the battery is charging your devices, the LED indicator will stay on displaying the battery’s remaining power and will turn off when the device is fully charged and not drawing a current. When the battery is being charged, the remaining power of the LED indicators will light steadily; while the next charging LED indicator will flash. And they will turn off when the Astro E3 is fully charged.
Q16.  How long does it take to fully charge this Anker external battery?
9-10 hours with a 1.5A output charger. Using a charger with a lower current output will prolong the charge time.
Q17.  How long will the charge in the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery last without being used?
Generally, the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery's static power consumption is lower than 100uA, which will take between 3.5 and 20 years to drain the battery completely. However, the chemicals within the li-ion battery will gradually become less active over prolonged periods without use. Most will die in 2 years of inactivity. To extend your battery's life, please discharge and recharge it at least once every 4 months.
Q18.  How to turn the flashlight on and off?
Please press the power button twice to turn the flashlight on or off.
Q19.  Can the Astro E5 15000mAh external battery be used for international travel?

Charging Nikon
I have this and a small 3000MaH pink lipstick size powerbank of yours (Sorry forget model) and was wondering if it would damage them or my Nikon by using these to charge a Nikon D5200 and/or 7100 DSLR camera? I noticed a competing brand was advertising there product being able to do this and wondered if your product would aswell. It does seem like I would need a different USB cord but otherwise it seems like it would work fine.

We usually say that if your device can be charged from a computer USB port then it can be charged by our external batteries.

It certainly would not cause any damage either to your camera or to our battery.

I have a DSLR that loves to chew batteries like candy. I always carry my Anker Astro with me when the camera decides to die at the wrong time. Even 5 minutes on the Astro let's me snap off a few more shots. Since the camera can be plugged in the same kind of charger as phones use, plugging it into a battery pack is the same basic thing.

Possibly faulty production lot?
I started having problems with my E5 in the last couple of weeks.  I just sent an email to tech support, but then looked at the reviews here after I did that.  I notice that very recently there have been multiple questions of a similar issue.  I can only wonder if maybe there was a bad production lot that is now showing it's face.  I trust that Anker customer support will come through in a timely and acceptable fashion given the obvious issue here, which is why I paid a premium for this device over others on the market in the first place.

If you're using a 5V/1.5A charger and you've tried with different cables and still can't get it to fully charge then it could indicate a fault.

Please give our customer service guys a shout at support@ianker.com and they'll be able to help you further.

compatibility issue
Please tell me if Anker Astro E5 15000 mAh External Battery can be used to power the Panasonic HC-V550K Full HD Wifi Enabled 50X stable zoom camcorder which is powered by Panasonic battery pack VW-VBT 190 -1940mAh. Can this Anker Astro E5 be charged with the power supply, 3.6V battery/5.0V AC Adapter that came with the Panasonic HC-V550K camcorder? Is there a power supply AC adapter to charge specifically the Anker  Astro E5?

We usually suggest that if a device can be charged by your computer's USB port then it should work fine withe Astro.

The AC adapter (if it has a USB output) should charge the Astro fine.

Sorry to hear you haven't received any response to emails to us, what is the ticket number that you were given in the automated acknowledgement emails?

Are the chargers you're using capable of outputting 5V/1.5A and have you tried with a different cable?

Anker do a wall charger,  the battery has a 1.5amp input,  in order to charge the unit quickly,  the charger needs to be able to supply 1.5amp, the Anker chargers can supply 2.4 amp. The battery will only take the amps it needs,  so have a look at the Anker wall charger

The wall charger you need should be capable of outputting 5V/1.5A.

Currently in the UK we only have stock for our 5 port chargers, they do have Power IQ installed though which means they'll charge any of your devices at full speed.

You'd just need to search on Amazon for 'Anker 25W Wall Charger' or 'Anker 40W Wall Charger'.

Possible to find/buy a Micro USB cable?
Hi, I have bought this charger, it worked very well along 4 months. Now it is not charged. Is this a problem from the Micro USB cable? How can I test this? If the problem is originating from the Micro USB cable, is it possible to purchase from your side?Thank you very much.

If you've tried using a different Micro USB cable and the E5 is charging up OK then this would indicate a fault with the cable, in which case we'd be more than happy to get you a replacement sent out.

Hi,I have tested my battery with another functional Micro USB, it did not work. I have also connected my Micro USB to my friend's external battery(anker), it worked. After that cross check, it was cleared up that the problem is originating from the battery itself. Could you please give me en advice to find a technical service in Turkey in order for me to keep in touch with them and send the battery for repair. Thank you.
