A shot to your phone.

When all you need is a boost, the Anker® Astro Mini's got you covered. Holds enough juice to get you back up and running without weighing you down (less than 3oz). Add more than a full charge - that's up to 9 hours of talk time to an iPhone or more than 90 hours of audio playback to most other phones.

Undercover power.

The external battery of choice for secret agents, overnight campers, busy parents and those headed out for a night on the town. At the approximate size of a tube of lipstick, it slips easily into your bag, pocket or even your clutch (only 3.5in long). Eliminate the bulk, but still be ready with a backup.

Primo construction.

As with all Anker® products, each Astro Mini is built with dependability in mind. Specifically, we incorporate premium microchips, Samsung Grade A cells and a rugged aluminum outer shell to ensure the highest quality possible to our customers. Whether you're in the car, at a party or somewhere out on the trail, know you've got a reliable battery that won't let you down.

For optimal use.

• Compatible with all Apple and Android smartphones, tablets and other 5V input USB-charged devices. The iPod nano, Samsung and Asus tablets and some GPS and Bluetooth devices are not supported.
• To ensure complete safety and best performance, we strongly recommend using your device’s original cable, a third-party certified cable (such as MFI) or our included cable.
• To start a charge, first press the power button.

  • Good, easy to use.Verified PurchaseThis review is from: Anker® Astro Mini 3000mAh Ultra-Compact Portable Charger Lipstick-Sized External Battery Power Bank Pack for iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, Galaxy S5, S4
  • I let my phone get perilously close to death at least once a day. This is really nice in those times where I actually need it to stay charged through an evening out (generally, I'm fine just letting it die and charging it overnight). This product does exactly what it is intended to do: it charges your phone without needed to be plugged into an outlet (bonus points for being rechargeable and not running on AAs). The reason I gave this four rather than five stars is that it's really only good for one complete charge. You will need to charge this in between charges (not a huge deal, I usually just plug it into my computer at work and let it charge there the day after I've used it and it's good to go for the next time, but I imagine it would be nice to not have to recharge after individual uses).

Customer FAQ

Q1.  Can I use USB cables othan than those provided with my Anker external battery?
To ensure complete safety and best performance, we strongly recommend using your device’s original cable, a third-party certified cable (such as MFI) or our included cable.
Q2.  Does it work with the new iPhone 5s, 5c?
Yes. But the Apple connector is not included. Please use your device's original cable.
Q3.  Anker external batteries' efficiency.
ALL external batteries lose power due to voltage conversion and circuit resistance.

Approximately 20% of Astro 2nd Generation external battery’s total capacity is consumed, including power lost from circuit heat and voltage conversion within the external battery (approximately 6%) and the charging cable and your device (approximately 14%). This efficiency rate is 15% higher than the industry average of 35%.

Older Astro batteries have lose approximately 30%.

According to industrial standards, all external batteries are labeled based on their raw cells capacity not efficiency. Like others, we are following this standard.
Q4.  How long will the battery lasts while not in use?
Generally, most of our external batteries' static power consumption is lower than 100uA, which will take between 3.5 and 20 years to drain the battery completely.

However, the chemicals within the li-ion battery will gradually become less active over prolonged periods without use. Most will die in 2 years of inactivity.

To extend your battery's life:
1. Charge and recharge it at least once every 3-4 months.
2. Do not over-charge or over-discharge it. It is best to keep it charged between 5%-95%.
Q5.  Can Anker external batteries be used for international travel?
Yes. Be sure the USB adapter you bring with is compatible with the voltage of the country you will be traveling to. An adapter's voltage input is usually printed on the adapter.
Q6.  Can external batteries be taken on board airplanes?
Yes, all Anker external batteries can legally and safely be taken on board airplanes. Here are the relevant requirements:

Quoted from Federal transportation security rules (Effective January 1, 2008):
Lithium ion batteries (a.k.a.: rechargeable lithium, lithium polymer, LIPO, secondary lithium).
-Passengers may carry consumer-sized lithium ion batteries [no more than 8 grams of equivalent lithium content or 100 watt hours (wh) per battery]. This size covers AA, AAA, 9-volt, cell phone, PDA, camera, camcorder, Gameboy, and standard laptop computer batteries.
-Passengers can also bring two (2) larger lithium ion batteries (more than 8 grams, up to 25 grams of equivalent lithium content per battery) in their carry-on. This size covers larger extended-life laptop batteries. Most consumer lithium ion batteries are below this size.

Anker's largest external battery is currently the Anker Pro 20000mAh (74 wh) which is lower than the above 100 wh limit.
Q7.  What can I do if I lose the provided accessories?
Please check to see if you have extras or contact us via email at support@ianker.com for help.
Q8.  Anker external batteries' compatibility
Anker external batteries are compatible with Android and Apple smartphones and tablets except Asus devices ( Apple connectors are not included, please use your devices original cable).
Q9.  Can it be charged and charge other devices at the same time?
Yes, this battery can simultaneously charge and discharge. However, constant pass-through charging may affect the battery’s lifespan.
Q10.  Do you need to press the power button to begin charging other devices?
Yes.
Q11.  How long does it take to fully charge this Anker external battery?
3-4 hours with a 1A output charger.
Q12.  What do the LEDs indicate when the external battery is charging itself or other devices?
The green LED indicator will flash when the Astro Mini is charging other devices. When it is recharging itself, a constant green LED indicator will light up and will turn off automatically once the Astro Mini is fully charged.
Q13.  Why can’t I charge my Bluetooth device with the Astro Mini?
The Astro Mini will not charge devices with input currents lower than 30mA, including some Bluetooth and GPS devices.
Q14.  What if the Astro Mini fails to recharge?
a. Check that the adapter is connected securely, or replace it if the current one is not functioning normally.
b. Check that the USB cable is connected securely, or replace it if the current one is not functioning normally.
c. Please email us at support@ianker.com duiring your 18-month warranty period if the provided acessories or the external battery have problems.
Q15.  What if the Astro Mini fails to charge my devices?
Refer to the tips listed under Question 6, and check that the Astro mini’s voltage is compatible with your electronic device's required charging voltage. Please make sure to press the power button. Please email us at support@ianker.com duiring your 18-month warranty period if the provided acessories or the external battery have problems.

Astro mini - iphone 5 compatability
Hiya,I bought a Astro Mini 3000 mah from Amazon a week ago. Using a original Apple charging cable, the phone charged once with no issues. Needing to use it again, the green light flashes and have had a message that the device is not supported, and no longer charges. It does start to charge for 2 seconds, then stops. This is now also the same for my Blackberry, as this doesn't charge either. Is this a an issue with the charging unit itself, or a known compatability issue as the advert and your website is claiming these applications are supported.ThanksDean

If the Mini has been fully recharged and it is struggling to charge other devices regardless of what cable you're using then it would almost certainly indicate a fault.

Could you give our customer service guys a shout at support@ianker.com? They'll get you back up and running in no time.

Will Astro Mini charge as needed?
I have a device on which I need to run some tests over a period of time longer than the device's internal battery will allow for.If I connect a fully chared Astro Mini to the fully charged DUT, will the Mini charge the device as needed or will it see it as charged initially and then just shut off? Thanks!

The Mini will not charge your device without you pressing the charging button and it will cease charging once the connected device reaches 100%.

Would it not be possible for you to commence the charging yourself as the battery runs low in your device?

Yes, the cable is included but it doesn't come with a USB wall charger.

Charging from a computer or your phone/device's wall charger will work fine.

Does it automatically shut off?
Hi.  I am asking this question about two different contexts:  1.  When charging the Anker itself, does it automatically shut off (stop charging) when it is full, or is it necessary to keep an eye on it and unplug it from the power source once the Anker is fully charged?  (Does it start to discharge or otherwise compromise it if you plug it in and leave it charging overnight, for example?) 2.  When using the Anker to charge a smartphone, does it automatically shut when the smartphone is fully charged, or do you have to keep an eye on it to stop the recharging once the smartphone is fully charged?  (Does it start to discharge or otherwise hurt the Anker or the phone battery somehow if you leave it charging for a long time after the battery is full?)Many thanks.

xuxaxo .
Thanks, Joxean, but this doesn't really answer either of my questions.  My questions do not relate to how I can tell when the charging is complete; rather, my questions relate to (1) what happens if you don't unplug the Anker from the power source when the Anker is full, and (2) what happens if you don't unplug the phone from the Anker when the phone is full.  If anyone can provide the answers to my specific questions, I will be much obliged.  Thanks!

It will stop taking a charge when the charge level reaches 100%. It will be fine to leave on charge overnight but we wouldn't suggest you leave it plugged in for extended periods.

When you're charging another device with the Astro then the Astro will stop delivering charge when the phone reaches 100%. It won't harm it to leave it plugged in.

Newly bought, but not charging?
I bought the Astro Mini 3000mAh External Battery last month and I've only used it a few times but it seems like it's not charging already. After I connected my phone to the external battery I press the power button. First, it says it's charging and then after a few seconds it doesn't anymore. I checked if the battery still had charge and it does (with a green light when I held the power button). So I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if there's something wrong with the battery.

It does this sometimes if the battery is low. I'm sure you've already tried recharging it haha, but you never know. It should still be covered by Anker's 18 month warranty if it is actually broken though.

Sorry to hear you're having problems!

First of all try charging the Mini from a different USB wall charger or computer USB port and then (if you have one) try using a different cable between the Mini and your phone.

If this doesn't fix it then get in touch with our customer service guys at support@ianker.com and they'll help you out. Remember, all our products are covered by an 18 month warranty.

The Mini comes with a single Micro USB to USB cable. You can use this to charge the Mini itself and any devices that require a Micro USB input (many Android devices have this input).

If you want to use it to charge an iPhone then you will need to get the appropriate cable or adapter.

buying your astro mini in bulk/direct

Hello, do you sell directly to the customer?  I am looking to purchase around 200 phone chargers but am looking for a company that can add a business logo as a promo piece.

Please let me know if this would be a possibility.

Thank you,

To this day they are very happy.
The burden of production came in carrying them more or less 40% of my Samsung Galaxy mini S4.
Hope that helps.

This doesn't have enough power to charge an ipad. This is only meant for phones. Make sure you're charging this battery from the wall and not your computer. It should only take about 2.5 hours to fully charge

It can not charge an iPad. You can use it to charge an iPhone and selected smartphones, bluetooth headsets, cellphones, among others. You need to get another external battery to charge an iPad.
