Customer Reviews

Lo
  • Good for the price
  • This replaced a very expense gaming mouse temporarily. It works well, but the 'Crackle' finish is a paint finish with no overcoat so you feel all the texture.

  • Subtly classic
  • What's so catchy about this mouse is its lighting !! And of course, it works fine and it is easy to handle. I love the design.

Scotty
  • It got 3 stars because of the price and because it works right
  • INITIAL REVIEW (update later) 4/20/14 The worst thing about it is that the scroll wheel itself can't be changed (not the button press, the actual scrolling). My Logitech G700 you could. Other than that, this mouse could use ONE more button on the left side of the mouse. I just need one more button next to the left click area for melee or interact like the G700 does. If it just had one more button and you could marco the scroll wheel back and scroll forward and all for $20 this would be the only mouse I would use from now on. Too bad.

  • Great mouse for casual gamer.
  • I am a casual gamer who likes to play WoW and DIablo, and this mouse is exactly what I was looking for. It works great and is a perfect fit for my hand. I also love the many different colors it can be, even though I mostly keep it on pink! I am thinking of purchasing again for a friend, it is that nice!

XZ3R0
  • Great for the price.
  • What do you expect for $20? This beats most of those epectations. You're probably not going to find a better mouse at this price point. Even if you dont play video games its has a good amount of buttons and 4000DPI is more than enough range most people. The LED lighting is a nice bonus.

Customer FAQ

Q1.  What is DPI?
Dots per inch (DPI) is a measure of spatial printing or video dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the span of 1 inch (2.54 cm). For example, when DPI is set to be 400, the cursor will move by 400 dots for every inch the mouse is moved.
Q2.  What is polling rate?
Polling rate (or report rate) determines how often your mouse sends information to your computer. Measured in Hz, this setting equates to lag time (in ms). If the polling rate is set at 1000Hz, the mouse cursor will be updated every 1 millisecond.
Q3.  What factors are most important to take into consideration when buying a new gaming mouse?
There are two major factors to consider when choosing a gaming mouse: the way the mouse feels in your hand and its performance. As long as you feel comfortable when clicking, moving, and gripping the mouse, then it will be an appropriate choice. As to performance, you should take several key parameters into account, such as the number of function keys, DPI, FPS, transfer rate, and customizability. Generally speaking, the higher the value of DPI, FPS, and transfer rate, the faster the operating speed and accuracy of the mouse will be.
Q4.  Can I use the gaming mouse to replace my regular mouse?
Yes, of course. The gaming mouse is equipped with customizable buttons which facilitate webpages viewing, and is able to track your move more precisely. By adjusting the gaming mouse to different applications, you can use the gaming mouse either in gaming or daily common use.

Everything you need is here. http://www.ianker.com/support-c23-g217.html

Unzip the file and run the exe to install the driver program for programming buttons and color.

LED lights go off when sleeping?

I'm really interesting in buying one of these, wondering if the LED lighting will turn off when my monitor goes to sleep. Also I've been reading that I can't choose the colour specifically but I have to choose a DPI that coincides with a colour. If that's true, what colour is at 2000 DPI?

The lights go to sleep when your computer goes to sleep.

Download the driver software to change the color

Quote From Fire and Ice: I'm sorry if I didn't specify, or not sure if there's a difference, but I only have my monitor power savings sleep mode. My computer itself never goes into the sleep mode from the Start button menu. Will it still shut the LED light off if the monitor only goes into power savings mode?

If it's only shutting your monitor down and not your PC then the LED will stay lit.

The LED won't turn off when your monitor does, only when the actual computer does. The mouse will be pink at 2000DPI and will only change when you select a different DPI. You can choose to turn the lights off altogether though in the supplied software.

Connection between this and Armaggeddon

I was browsing the web for a potential gaming mouse to buy, and this seems to hit my fancy. The thing is, I browsed a product on Armaggeddon Gaming Peripherals (http://leapfroglobal.com/amg/mice/aquila-x5.html) and what the hell, this mouse and armaggeddon's aquila x5 are totally one and the same! So I'd like to know the connection between the two :3 I'd like to know the details if possible... it would help me regain my peace of mind and will help me decide on buying this or the other way around.

They do look pretty damned similar. Could be a copy, but no one would ever admit it. Heck of a price difference though... 35%? Willing to take a gamble that Anker got this mouse right for 35%? I would.... They get everything else right.

There's a lot of Anker mice that I have found similarities to. I think they sourced out their earlier designs and manufacturing to a chinese comnpany. So they are some companies that copied and made similar products.

I have seen at least 3 Anker mice by different companies. But these mice are 1-2 years old. Newer Anker products are pretty locked down and have no copy cats

The gaming peripheral market is super competitive and it's almost impossible to stop imitations occurring. If the price itself wasn't already enough of an incentive to make the purchase with us then don't forget the world class customer service and 18 month warranty you'll get with Anker.

How to INSTALL the software

I have downloaded the software and it opens up in WinRar. I got to the "setup.exe" file and try to run it. When I am on the page to decide where to save the files, I click continue and get an error message saying "String ER_Create_Reg was not found in string table" and then "ER_Create_Reg". I amjust starting computer gaming, so I don't know a whole lot about how to fix this kind of stuff. (I am running Windows 8, not pro)

Replies(4) Collapse Report as spam Apr 10, 2014 at 8:05 PM

That error can occur when the installer script, (setup.exe), used a string variable that is not defined in the string table. In this case "er_create_reg". You could go back to the site and verify that you tried to install the correct version of the mouse. I.E. windows 8 x86 or 64 bit.

Thanks! It turns out I had the correct version ,but after looking this question up on other forums I tried saving the unzipped file to the desktop and then running as administrator. Thanks for the help though.

Out of curiousity, on the first time, did you decompress the file first or did you try to run the setup out of the zipped folder?
